Regenerate API Key

Overview

Browserbase API keys are credentials that authenticate your requests to the Browserbase platform, enabling your agents and applications to access web automation capabilities. Periodically regenerating your API key is a security best practice, especially if you suspect unauthorized access or are implementing a key rotation policy. This workflow guides you through the process of replacing your current API key with a new one. Note that regenerating your key will immediately invalidate the old key, so ensure all applications using the old key are updated before completing this process.

Before you begin

  • Active Browserbase account with admin or owner permissions to access Settings
  • Access to www.browserbase.com and ability to log in
  • Knowledge of all applications or services currently using your existing API key (so you can update them after regeneration)

Step by step

1
ClickSettings

Navigate to your Browserbase account settings by clicking the Settings link in the top navigation. This opens the account configuration page where you can manage API keys and other security settings.

Tip. The Settings link is typically located in the main navigation bar at the top of the page. If you're unsure, look for a gear icon or 'Settings' text in the top navigation area.
Step 1
2
ClickRegenerate token

Locate and click the 'Regenerate token' button on the Settings page. This initiates the API key regeneration process and will display a confirmation prompt.

Tip. There may be multiple 'Regenerate token' buttons on the page if you have multiple API keys. Ensure you click the button corresponding to the key you intend to replace.

Confirm the API key regeneration by clicking the 'Regenerate token' button in the confirmation dialog. This action permanently invalidates your old API key and activates a new one.

Warning. This action is irreversible. The old API key will be immediately deactivated. Before confirming, ensure all applications and services using the old key are identified and ready to be updated with the new key.

  2. 2A confirmation dialog or prompt appears asking you to confirm the token regeneration
